Response to survey to the question of Jessie Jackson tears
First, let me thank those of you who responded to the question. “Do you believe that the tears of Jessie Jackson at the Obama Election victory speech were real? Second, let me confess that this survey is not purported to be scientific but I give you just what I got. We did not do any dilutions for dishonest answers, projections for respondents who did not respond, and we did not do any Cofactor mathematics to figure out the margin of error. This is a simple survey. We ask 47 folk via email the question and here is some of what we got without revealing anyone’s actual response:
(1) First, the reason for the survey was that I got a lot of folk who said they were “freaking out” over the sight of Jessie Jackson crying at the Obama victory speech because of what he had said on Fox about “Cutting out Obama’s nuts for talking down to Black folk.”
(2) Second, you should know that when these same folk responded, they conceded that they believe that Jessie Jackson’s tears were real.
(3) Third and the full report is that, *ALL OF THE RESPONDANT BELIEVED THAT JESSIE JACKSON’S TEARS WERE REAL.
If you are interested in the flavor of the comments they are as follows without specifications as to who made these comments, here is a sampling:
(1) The tears were real . . . Jessie was probably thinking of what might have been;
(2) The tears were real . . . Although Jessie could not hold a candle to Obama; maybe he is sincerely happy for Obama;
(3) The tears are real . . . I think Jessie has a storm going on inside of his heart and mind. Jessie may have been against Obama and may still be but he has to reflect on his life with MLK “I have a dream” and it may have all came down on ole Jessie at once. I hope that Jessie tears, even though they may have been real, are not of jealousy or envy. Only God knows what is going on in that mind of Jessie Jackson;
(4) I think Jessie Jackson’s tears were real. I think he cried for the same exact reasons that I cried and could not stop crying. Damn, Dr. Jackson! Why would Jessie Jackson’s tears be any different than all of the other many thousands of folk who cried?
(5) The tears were real for two reasons: one, he was realizing that the whole struggle and all of the thousand of folks (Black & white) who sacrificed and died were not in vain. To see Obama standing there as a culmination of this was just overwhelming. Two, I think Jessie was feeling guilt of pain and shame for his inappropriate remarks towards Barack.
(6) In response to the question of if I believe Jessie Jackson’s tears were real. I say FAKE . . . he had to cry – as a requirement after wanting to squeeze the man’s “Nads.”
(7) I believe that Jessie Jackson had some animosity towards Barack . . . but when it came to the final verdict . . . the actual election of Obama got the best of Jessie and the tears were real.
(8) I am sure that Jessie Jackson’s tears were genuine. I know I cried my butt off and I could not hold it. I thought about MLK, Rosa, Fredrick, Harriet, and all of the folk like the many folk in the Poor People’s March and I could not stop crying, crying, and crying. I even woke up Wednesday morning feeling different and I do not know what or how to explain the proud and great feeling I had on Wednesday morning. The best way to explain it is to tell you that when my little sister who is seven said, “If I could have voted, I would have voted for McCain.” I do not know how to explain what I was feeling on Wednesday after the election but even a joke like that from my little sister brought me back to reality. REALITY IS GOOD! We ought to stay in reality and help Obama make the changes he promises. HE CANNOT DO IT BY HIMSELF.
* One person did not agree that Jessie Jackson’s tears were real. If this were a scientific survey this would not register as a significant difference to prohibit our saying “All respondents thought they were real.”
